Cllr Mohammed Abdal Ullah
Trustee & General Secretary

I am delighted to report the work of Wapping Bangladesh Association (WBA) through our recently updated website. After a very difficult time resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic WBA has achieved a great deal under very challenging circumstances and now we have set ourselves an ambitious agenda and with the support our service users, members and the local community I believe we are on course to achieving a lot more in the years to come.

Some of the highlights of our achievements and progress can be reflected by how WBA managed to sustain many of its core services during the pandemic by being able to switch from our traditional direct face-to-face delivery to online and telephone and social media apps. We undertook a comprehensive restructuring investing money, resources and time on strengthening our IT system, making extensive use of the internet and other mobile phone and resources to enable our staff to deliver and sustain WBA’s services by working from home. Should there be a further pandemic or there are Government Restrictions being imposed WBA is now in a very strong position to quickly switch to online and telephone delivery of our services.

Where needed we will instigate further changes to ensure that our services are better coordinated and responsive to the concerns of our community and that they are delivered in ways that suits the people who depend on us and which also takes account of the needs of the future generation.

I truly appreciate the immense support given to us by all our members, service users, all our funders, officers of Tower Hamlets Council and other affiliated members of our partner organisations and are numerous well-wishers. A big thank you for all their support, co-operation and friendship.
